History

Haribhakti Charitable Trust (HCT) was setup by Dr. Jayant B. Haribhakti in the year 1977. The primary purpose of the trust was to help the needy people and donations to various social, medical and educational institutions.

In the beginning the trust was conceived with a small corpus and it consisted of the Dr. Jayant B. Haribhakti as the chairman and 4 other trustees. Initially the donation were given to needy people and left over was given to various organizations. Gradually as years passed by regular donations came into the trust and the scope of charities was also increased. Later the trust was granted Section 80G.

With the sad demise of Dr. Jayant B. Haribhakti in 1989, Dr. Pravin Haribhakti was appointed as the chairman of the Trust by the board members. Since then Dr. Pravin Haribhakti is the Chairman and Managing Trustee.

Current Status and Activities

Over the time new trustees were added as original trustees had passed away and some resigned due to age. The trust currently enjoys the benefit of 80G exemption from Income Tax in India. That means donations made to Haribhakti Charitable Trust are qualified for 50% exemption from Indian Taxes.

Currently, Haribhakti Charitable Trust donates around 15 below mentioned organizations annually.

The Trust also holds regular annual meetings to discuss the audited reports, scope of donations to various organizations and to pass any resolution matters regarding the trust.
